The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is responding to new flooding in West Hollywood, raising fresh concerns just one week after a major water main break caused widespread damage in the area. The latest flooding has been reported near Santa Monica Boulevard and Laurel Avenue, close to the border with Hollywood. Officials are working to determine whether the water is coming from a new break or is somehow connected to last week’s rupture, which released an estimated 17 million gallons of water. That incident flooded multiple streets, damaged homes and vehicles, and created a massive sinkhole that required extensive repairs. Overnight, crews discovered additional pooling roughly two miles from the original break, near the location where the sinkhole had recently been filled with concrete, suggesting another possible leak. However, LADWP officials say there is currently no evidence that the two incidents are connected. The investigation into the latest flooding is continuing.
