A new report warns that the proposed Paramount-Skydance merger with Warner Bros. Discovery could put thousands of Los Angeles County jobs and billions of dollars in economic activity at risk. The county’s final report estimates that about 4,500 film and television jobs could be threatened for three years following the merger. Another 2,600 indirect jobs at production vendors could also be affected, including workers at prop houses, transportation companies, and printing businesses. The report says the potential impact extends beyond the entertainment industry, with more than 3,200 additional jobs across the broader local economy potentially at risk. In total, more than $4 billion in business output could be jeopardized during the three-year period. That includes more than $1.2 billion in wages, nearly $2.8 billion in economic value, and approximately $547 million in tax revenue. Of that amount, more than $78 million would represent local tax revenue, according to the county’s analysis.
