Southern California is facing another day of dangerous heat and elevated fire danger, with an Extreme Heat Warning remaining in effect through Friday night. Forecasters expect temperatures to reach between 100 and 106 degrees across lower mountain elevations, valleys, and far inland areas. Parts of the western San Fernando Valley, including Woodland Hills, could see temperatures climb even higher, ranging from 106 to 112 degrees. A less severe Heat Advisory is also in effect along portions of the coast, where temperatures are expected to remain elevated. Low humidity is adding to the wildfire threat, with a Red Flag Warning in effect for northern Los Angeles County because of dangerous fire conditions. The National Weather Service says the heat could make this the hottest combined July and August in Los Angeles since weather records began in 1870. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activity, check on vulnerable people, and take precautions to prevent wildfires during the ongoing heat wave.
