Cleanup efforts are underway after high surf caused coastal flooding in Seal Beach. Water and debris breached the sand berm, washing onto the boardwalk and nearby areas. Several residents’ garages were also flooded and had to be pumped out. The powerful waves, generated by Tropical Storm Marie, have attracted crowds of onlookers to the nearby beach and pier. The conditions have created an unusual scene, with some people even kayaking down the flooded boardwalk. Residents are being warned that the threat of flooding is not over yet. A Coastal Flood Advisory and a High Surf Advisory remain in effect through eleven p.m. Officials are urging people to stay away from dangerous surf and flooded areas as the storm continues to generate large waves along the coast. The flooding has caused significant disruption for residents and visitors in the Seal Beach area, with cleanup efforts continuing throughout the day today.
