Two young people are facing firearm charges after police say they were found with a loaded assault rifle inside a Waymo driverless vehicle in San Francisco. It happened September 3 in Outer Richmond. According to the San Francisco Police Department, Waymo employees detected a firearm inside the vehicle and alerted responders. The vehicle was stopped on the 800 block of 40th Avenue shortly before 4 a.m. Officers conducted a high-risk stop and searched the car. Police say they found a loaded AR-style assault rifle, described as a ghost gun, along with suspected marijuana and mace spray. A male and female passenger were arrested and booked into the Juvenile Justice Center. Their identities have not been released because they are minors. The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact San Francisco police. Waymo has alerted authorities about suspected illegal activity involving passengers in its driverless vehicles.
