A man was shot and killed in broad daylight yesterday in the Fairfax district, scaring and shocking nearby shoppers.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting, which was reported about 5:45 p.m. on Melrose Avenue, near Sierra Bonita Avenue, according to Los Angeles police Officer Mike Lopez.
Authorities said a gun was recovered at the scene.
One witness told police the gunman stood over the victim and picked something up near the body before speeding away in a SUV.
