Nineteen thousand planned new homes in the Centennial community of Tejon Ranch aim to help solve LA’s housing crisis, except it’s sixty miles away and partially in Kern County.
For so many would be homeowners, It’s not just about housing affordability when it comes to the American dream of buying a home in SoCal. It’s also housing availability. Barry Zoeller is Vice President of Investor Relations for the Tejon Ranch Company and he says his development can solve both problems.
“We recognize that housing availability in California, especially in Southern California, and housing affordability go hand in hand. We have these middle class families that can’t afford a home, first time home buyers that can’t afford a home. So something needs to be done and we think that Centennial is part of that solution.”
After facing intense debate for two decades, L.A. County’s Regional Planning Commission is on board. They voted 4-1 last Wednesday to recommend to the Board of Supervisors the land-use plans and permits for the Tejon Ranch development.
He goes on to say Tejon’s master plan includes two communities in Kern County off the 5 freeway.
Zoeller was a guest on McIntyre in the Morning.
