An L.A. city watchdog says the cost of litigation may soon be out of control.
The city estimates that it will pay out 89 million dollars’ worth of claims. But that’s a lowball figure says Jack Humphreville Chairman of the D-W-P Advocacy Committee.
He says Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer is too reluctant to fight the lawsuits facing the city.
”If they go to court, I think the city’s just scared to death they’ll have a runaway jury.”
The state legislature has also contributed to the problem.
”They have made it so easy for the plaintiff’s bar, for the strike lawyers, to make money here, that it’s almost impossible to defend against all this stuff.”
Jack Humphreville was a guest on McIntyre in the Morning.
