Supporters of the gas-tax repeal, Proposition 6, say state agencies are breaking the law in order to defeat it.
Carl DeMaio, chairman for the Yes on Prop 6 campaign, has called this week for a federal investigation into what he says are illegal efforts by local government agencies to fight the repeal effort.
“Yesterday in Sacramento, we released 8 separate pieces of evidence..videos, photos, emails that show they are actually using government money to campaign. We have now filed complaints with three separate county district attorneys. The Fair Political Practices Commission have now accepted the case and are now moving forward with their investigation.”
He goes on to say that there is no gray area here.
“State and local government agencies are caught in blatant violation of California law that prohibits the use of taxpayer funds for campaign activities or advocacy.”
Opponents deny any wrongdoing.
