LAX Thermal Detecting Cameras
Los Angeles International Airport will start testing thermal scanning cameras to detect travelers who may be sick with coronavirus. Mayor Eric Garcetti says this is an additional layer of public health protection and will not be used in place of screening travelers. Garcetti says their will be posted signs at LAX letting people know where the pilot program is going on. The cameras will detect passengers with a body temperature of 100-point-four degrees or more. If a traveler is detected to have fever they will receive a second screening by a medical professional.
