The U.S. economy added one-point-four million jobs last month. The Labor Department reports the unemployment rate fell to eight-point-four percent in August and job creation was only slightly less than the nearly one and-a-half million new jobs created in July. The nearly two-percent drop in unemployment surprised analysts who’d forecast a decline to nine-point-nine percent. The jobless rate was ten-point-two percent in July.
