California’s Employment Development Department says if you’re waiting on a check, it’s coming soon. EDD officials say they’re making progress, but still have over a million claims to catch up on and it could take up until January to clear the backlog. This after the agency stopped taking new applications for two weeks so it could improve technology and get the checks out faster. So far, California has paid nearly $100 billion in unemployment benefits since March.
