(Riverside, CA) — A California operation is cracking down on illegal marijuana grow sites. The Campaign Against Marijuana Planting seized more than a million plants from 455 grow sites. They arrested 140 people and took in 174 weapons in 13 weeks. Department of Fish and Wildlife officials say illegal cultivation harms the environment, creates a public safety risk and uses harmful, banned pesticides that often end up contaminating the state’s waterways. If the farms irrigate, they may also disrupt natural habitats for fish, animals and plants.
