Los Angeles County may have just passed the peak of its Omicron variant driven coronavirus case surge.
Researchers forecasting the pandemic at Columbia University believe L-A County’s surge may have peaked yesterday, meaning average daily case totals would start decreasing today. And, new projections show, that by February 25th, case numbers will drop back down to pre-omicron levels. So far, similar projections made by the team at Columbia University have been accurate for other large cities, like Chicago. Their forecast called for Chicago’s case numbers peaking on January 9th, and so far, that appears to be what happened.
