State Dems won’t let you to pay less for gas

State Republican efforts to suspend California’s 51-cent-per-gallon gas tax in the Assembly has gone down in defeat on a party line vote of 18 to 40. Not a single Democrat voted to temporarily suspend the gas tax. AB 1638 would have immediately brought down the price of gas for six months and back-fill the revenue from the state’s budget surplus, which could be as high as $70 billion. Assembly Republican leader James Gallagher says their proposal would have brought much needed relief to the people who need it most and went on to add that the Democrats’ only solution seems to be ‘buy a Tesla.”
