Actor Will Smith is resigning his membership in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today.
As you may have heard, Smith walked up on stage at the Sunday Oscar ceremony and slapped comedian Chris Rock for making a joke about his bald wife Jada who suffers from Alopecia. In a statement first reported by Variety, Smith acknowledges receiving a disciplinary notice from the Academy and says he will “fully accept any and all consequences for my conduct.”
