L.A. Reps McCarthy, Bass Respond TO SCOTUS Roe v. Wade Ruling

(Los Angeles, CA) — Los Angeles representatives are responding to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion nationwide nearly 50 years ago. Republican Kevin McCarthy, who represents a portion of L.A. County, called it the “most important pro-life ruling in American history.” He applauded the justices who said the authority to regulate abortion is being returned “to the people and their elected representatives.” Democrat Karen Bass tweeted that “women should always have the right to control what happens to their own bodies — not the government.” Bass, who’s running for mayor of Los Angeles, said if elected in November she’ll do everything in her power to make sure women have access to reproductive health care in L.A.
