(Washington, DC) — The economy is going through a transition period, but the U.S. is not in a recession. So said White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, despite the accepted definition of a recession being two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth, which Biden has presided over. Speaking to reporters, Jean-Pierre also applauded the latest monthly jobs report. The U.S. economy added 528-thousand jobs in July and unemployment ticked-down to three-point-five percent.
