(Los Angeles, CA) — Los Angeles County was expecting to get 70-thousand doses of the monkeypox vaccine this week, but only got 28-thousand. The federal government was only able to fulfill 40-percent of L.A. County’s order. Even with the shortage, second doses will still be offered to residents who qualify. And, high-risk residents younger than the age of 18 are now eligible for the monkeypox vaccine with the consent of a parent.
L.A. County Monkeypox Cases More than Double
(Los Angeles, CA) — Monkeypox cases are more than double the amount Los Angeles County saw two weeks ago. The Department of Public Health says the area is reporting just over a thousand cases as of yesterday. All this comes at a time when the federal government was only able to supply the county with 40-percent of its vaccination request. Due to shortages, health officials are using the 28-thousand additional doses for qualified residents.
