California Ending COVID Emergency
(Sacramento, CA) — After more than two years, California is ending the COVID-19 state of emergency. Governor Gavin Newsom’s office announces that it will end February 28th of next year. The governor says this timeline gives the health care system needed flexibility to handle any potential surge that may occur after the holidays. Officials distributed 81 million vaccinations in the state during the pandemic. Newsom will look to the legislature to make permanent some emergency measures which were put in place by executive order. Those include the ability for nurses to administer COVID therapeutic drugs.
