(Los Angeles, CA) — The Los Angeles City Council has given final approval to the new Fair Work Week Ordinance. The ordinance, approved Tuesday, is designed to make work schedules more predictable for some 70-thousand employees of large retail chains. Employers must give employees their work schedules at least two weeks in advance, and allow them to have at least ten hours of rest between shifts. The council had been working on the ordinance for the past three years.
