(Washington, DC) — There’s still no consensus in the federal government on the origins of COVID-19. That’s what National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters Thursday. This comes after the Department of Energy and FBI said it’s likely the virus leaked from a lab in Wuhan, China. Kirby said intelligence officials are continuing to investigate where the virus came from to avoid future pandemics. The intelligence community appears to be divided on the issue as at least four other intel agencies have concluded with “low confidence” the virus emerged from natural transmission from animals to humans.
