You may not notice it, but one of LAX’s Runways is going to be shorter than usual starting today and for the next nine months.
It’s called 24-left/6-right and it’s the one closest to the terminals on the North side of the field. Work at extending Runway Safety Areas on both ends of the 10-thousand foot runway will mean temporarily shortening it for the next nine months. LAX Officials don’t expect delays and passengers on short haul flights will hardly notice any difference. Residents on the North side of LAX will notice increase in flights on North side runway nearer the airport fence and Lincoln Boulevard. Tom Perumean, KABC NEWS.
