The math teacher of the East LA student who achieved a perfect score on his Advanced Placement calculus test says he uses the example of sports to motivate his students. Anthony Yom says the team approach helps kids like star pupil Cedric Argueta believe in themselves. He also says his Lincoln High students get that he loves his job.
I really love my job and I really love my kids. Once they understand that I’m not just here to collect a paycheck, they understand that I’m doing this for them, there’s a trust that’s formed and once that trust has formed, those kids will go the extra mile for you.
Yom’s student, Cedric Argueta, was one of 12 students in the world to earn a perfect score on the Advance Placement calculus test last May Yom was a guest on 790 KABC’s McIntyre in the Morning with Doug McIntyre and Terrie Rae Elmer.
