A new Rasmussen national poll out shows Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump moving ahead of Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in a November match up between the two presumptive nominees.
“Now that the Republicans are starting to get their act together and they’re starting to unify, Trumps number’s are looking better,” says Rasmussen Reports Managing Editor Fran Coombs. “Meanwhile, Clinton’s numbers are starting to suffer because when people look at the Democrats they see chaos.”
The Nevada state Democratic convention was disrupted last week when Sanders supporters lashed out at party leaders for what they saw as a rigged primary election.
But in the same poll, Trump trails independent-turned Democrat Bernie Sanders in a hypothetical match up between the two.
Nevertheless, Clinton is not likely to be denied the nomination, even if the Vermont Senator’s crowds are more enthusiastic than hers are and even if he pulls off a win over her in the California primary.
“The fix is in for Hillary Clinton. I mean, that’s what the super-delegates are all about … she and her husband are calling in their chips and Hillary Clinton will be the nominee. Now, Bernie Sanders’ folks are going to be very unhappy about that and understandably so, and basically Bernie Sanders is going to be calling the shots at that convention. I mean, they’re already making room for him on the platform committee; they’re admitting he’s going to be able to name the person he wants as veep. He’s going to be very influential in terms of what the Democrats are going to campaign on, but at the end of the day Hillary is going to be the nominee.”
Coombs was a guest on 790 KABC’s McIntyre in the Morning with Doug McIntyre and Terri-Rae Elmer.
