State wildlife officials said today they will seek the prosecution of a man caught on camera shooting and killing a young deer with a bow and arrow in Monrovia last week.
“We have interviewed the suspect and (are) conducting an investigation,” Andrew Hughan of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife said in a statement this morning. “We are planning on filing a case with the L.A. County District Attorney.”
Hughan said it was not certain what charges would be sought.
“Potentially, (the) discharge of a weapon — a bow — in city limits for now, but we’ll have to see what the investigation bears out,” Hughan said.
Police said it’s illegal to shoot deer within city limits.
Michael Rodriguez told a local TV station the deer is now in his freezer and he plans on using it to feed his family.
