Lawmakers Looking For Ban On Firearm Switches

California lawmakers are pushing Assembly Bill 1127, which looks to ban firearms that can be easily converted into automatic weapons using a device known as a “switch.” Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel emphasizes that switches, costing around 25 dollars and easily made at home, pose a significant risk. However, gun rights advocates argue the bill unfairly targets manufacturers, noting existing efforts to prevent switches in newer guns. The Senate Appropriations Committee is set to review the bill this Friday.
