(Undated) — The California Department of Public Health is announcing guidelines to safely celebrate Halloween and Dia de los Muertos in 2020. While strongly discouraging traditional trick-or-treating, officials recommend doing a candy scavenger hunt at home, scheduling online activities like pumpkin carving or costume contests, and car-based tours of community decorations. And instead of visiting cemeteries in celebration of Dia de los Muertos, families are encouraged to create virtual altars online, or keep cemetery visits short in duration and maintain physical distancing.
