Trump Signs Bill Making Voting System Hack A Federal Crime
(Washington, DC) — It is now a federal crime to try and hack federal voting systems. President Trump signed a bill Tuesday allowing the Justice Department to pursue charges under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. His signature comes just two weeks before the election. Senator Richard Blumenthal called the Defending the Integrity of Voting Systems Act “critical.” The Connecticut Democrat added “its strong safeguards” will help protect election infrastructure “against hacking threats from foreign adversaries.”
