You might want to check speed limit signs across L-A. Some changes may be coming soon.
About 177-miles of streets in Los Angeles are closer to having slower speed limits. Tuesday, the City Council’s Transportation Committee advanced a plan to reduce speed limits by five-miles-per-hour.(Imagine how many lives could be saved if speed limits on all roads was 10 MPH!) Proponents hope the change reduces collisions causing injuries or death–but the ‘road diets’ that were supposed to do this have yielded MORE deaths. The full city council braintrust still needs to cast its votes on the proposed slower speeds – that could happen soon.
