(San Diego, CA) — Four-hundred dollar tax rebates could be coming to California residents. After Democrats voted down a suspension of the gas tax that would have saved California drivers 51 cents a gallon over the next year, a proposal is now in front of the State Assembly that would give every California resident 400 dollars. Not just drivers– everyone, a concept that could aggravate the already torturous inflation problem. The Sacramento Bee says Republicans aren’t opposing the new plan, but are still calling for tax cuts during record gas prices and 40-year highs for inflation. Democrats say a tax discount may have been covered up by oil companies and gas stations, and a rebate would help all state residents, including those who take public transit or have electric cars.
