(Washington, DC) — A Democratic member of the Senate Judiciary Committee wants to establish term limits for U.S. Supreme Court justices. Speaking on NBC’s Meet the Press, Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, who chairs a subcommittee on the Federal Courts, said that the nomination process for Supreme Court justices needs to stop being “so heavily politicized.” He added that even with the separation of powers among the three U.S. government branches, Congress can pass laws that involve the Supreme Court.
