GOP leaders in California want to address the campus protests and violence with a budget solution.
Assembly Republican leader James Gallagher says it’s one way to quell the violence and bring accountability back to campus.
Senate Minority leader Brian Jones also says university administrations that fail to keep students safe should also lose state funding.
“We should not be giving Cal Grant money, state money, to students who are trampling on other people’s rights. And these campus administrators, like at (Cal Poly Humboldt) where classes were closed down, where all students’ rights were violated by this, they should lose funding,” said Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher, R-Yuba City, in a Thursday morning press conference at the Capitol.
They are also recommending budgetary punishment for school administrators who in their eyes “did nothing” while students’ rights were violated.
