Stolen special election ballots for Prop 50 were found in a Sacramento County homeless encampment on Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s office. A Sacramento County Sheriff’s spokesman said deputies were in the area to clean up a camp when they found 99 ballots and other election-related materials among a large amount of other mail.”
The camp was vacant when authorities arrived, and no arrests were made. The county’s Department of Voter Registration and Elections says that new ballots will be sent to affected voters.
Recently, 135 ballots were stolen in Yolo County.
