California Governor Gavin Newsom finally admits to considering a run for president. That’s what Newsom told “CBS Sunday Morning” in an interview that first aired during the weekend. In the interview, taped in San Jose last Thursday, Newsom was asked if he’d give “serious thought” to running for president after the 2026 midterm elections. He said yes, adding that he’d be “lying otherwise.” Newsom’s final term as governor ends in January of 2027. Newsom has already made trips to several key battleground states, including South Carolina, which is slated to be the first state to hold a Democratic primary in 2028.
