Stockton’s mayor insists gang violence is behind Saturday’s shooting that left four people dead and another 11 injured at a kid’s birthday party. The suspects have not been caught. And Stockton Mayor Christina Fugzai says people have called her to say they’re afraid to go public with information. Law enforcement have stopped short of calling the mass shooting a gang killing, but they do say it was a targeted attack. Of the four people who were killed on Saturday night, three of them were children. One of the 11 injured survivors is a child who remains in critical condition.
Two men who attended a child’s birthday party that became the site of a deadly mass shooting in Stockton, California are in custody. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation says the two men in their 20s are accused of violating their parole. Both men are in San Joaquin County Jail but are not considered shooters in the deadly incident. One of the men was previously found guilty of carrying a loaded firearm in public while being an active gang member. The other man did prison time for abusing and endangering the health of a child and for corporal injury on a person resulting in a traumatic condition.
