The California Highway Patrol is promising to catch drunk and drug impaired drivers this holiday week. Their annual Christmas enforcement period is now underway and will last until late tomorrow night. All available officers will be cruising the roads, looking to catch drunk or drug-impaired drivers, speeders and other scofflaws. Last year at this time, CHP officers statewide arrested just over 300 motorists on suspicion of driving under the influence. The CHP says 17 people died in crashes within their jurisdiction during Christmas 2024.
