A new report requested by Congressman Kevin Kiley raises concerns about how FireAid used donations meant for California wildfire relief. Funds intended for victims were spent on voter initiatives, podcasts, unrelated environmental projects, and salaries for nonprofit staff.
Kiley says the report provides transparency for donors and is joining a bipartisan push for full federal disaster aid to California. Highlights include 100-thouand-dollars for voter promotion, roughly 550-thouand for political advocacy, 250-thouand for programs for undocumented immigrants, and over 500-thouand for nonprofit salaries.
