A proposed California law would make it easier to file lawsuits against ICE agents. The bill, dubbed the “No Kings Act,” was introduced by Democratic State Senator Scott Wiener of San Francisco. If passed, people would be able to sue federal agents for things like excessive force, unlawful searches, interfering with the right to protest and other violations of constitutional rights. A State Senate committee advanced the bill this week. California law already allows people to file similar lawsuits against state and local officials.
