Top White House officials visiting Pacific Palisades are promising to take over and fast-track building permits following the Palisades and Eaton wildfires. On Wednesday, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler met with fire victims and held closed-door talks with LA Mayor Karen Bass and County Supervisor Kathryn Barger.
The Los Angeles Times quotes Zeldin, who says the talks were productive and focused on accelerating reconstruction, resolving insurance issues, and improving wildfire prevention. President Trump signed an executive order blaming California Democrats for holding up rebuilding. Zeldin says Governor Gavin Newsom has not had the right approach to asking for the disaster aid.
