Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback Sam Darnold owes $249,000 dollars in taxes to the state of California after winning Super Bowl LX. What he owes exceeds the $178,000 dollars he earned for winning the game at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. Reports say it’s due to California’s so-called “Jock Tax.” It requires pro athletes who don’t live in the state to pay a percentage of their yearly income based on the number of days they work in California. The Seahawks were in the Bay Area between February 1st and February 8th, giving them eight “duty days” in the state. In all, Darnold is expected to lose about $71,000 dollars.
