A serial child molester from Sacramento County could soon be released from a prison in Southern California. David Allen Funston is being held at the California Institution for Men in Chino. In 1999, he was convicted of 16 counts of kidnapping and child molestation. Prosecutors say he lured kids into his vehicle using candy and toys.
During a press conference, Sacramento County Sheriff Jim Cooper said, “A judge in Sacramento described him… as the monster parents fear most, yet today the parole board decided he is suitable for release.”
Funston’s parole was granted last September. Last Wednesday, the full parole board affirmed Governor Gavin Newsom’s decision to grant parole. State officials have not announced exactly when the 64-year-old will be released from prison.
