The Trump administration is getting creative in its attempts to produce more oil in the U.S. and give you relief at the pump. The Department of Justice put out a legal opinion this week that says it would be legal for the President to use the Defense Production Act of 1950 to allow the company Sable to start using a pipeline that broke in 2015. Sable bought the pipeline in 2024, and says it fixed the problems. But state officials aren’t convinced and so far have denied Sable approval to use it.
