Governor Gavin Newsom plans to spend 19 million dollars on a marketing campaign aimed at promoting California. The effort is intended to improve the state’s image amid criticism over its economy, crime, and overall quality of life. Most of the funding would go toward advertising. State officials are currently seeking a company to run the campaign, with bidding open through March 13th. The proposal comes as California faces a three-billion-dollar budget deficit and as Newsom weighs a possible presidential run in 2028.
