The California Republican Party is calling on Governor Gavin Newsom to replace the parole board after the continued early release of violent criminals. The party is asking people to sign a petition asking the Governor to deny parole approved by the board for two sex offenders. Roberto DeTrinidad was sentenced to life in prison for the HIV positive rape of a woman in San Francisco but has been granted parole after only eleven years. David Funston was sentenced to three life terms for kidnapping and child sex abuse but was released under the state’s elder parole program. He is now facing new charges in Placer County.
