Highland Park is now installing emergency sirens to warn of ICE raids in the neighborhood. Officials say the small but loud sirens will function like tsunami or tornado warning sirens. They will warn people to get off the streets and indoors to safety to avoid being detained by federal immigration agents. Fliers in English and Spanish have been passed out around the community explaining their use. They say “when alarm goes off ICE is in the community” and “get off the streets, take shelter and lock down.”
