Governor Gavin Newsom’s former chief of staff received a payout of more than 50-thousand dollars before leaving the job. The Los Angeles Times reviewed state payroll records involving Dana Williamson. She was paid $52,000 dollars after racking up 462 hours in unused vacation time in less than two years on the job. She was paid more than $19,000 dollars a month as Newsom’s chief of staff. Williamson left the job last year, amid a federal corruption probe. Records show she used about $30,000 dollars in unused vacation time to stay on the state’s payroll through January 31st. That was about seven weeks after the governor’s office indicated she had left the job. Then, she collected another 22,000 dollars in a lump-sum payout.
