California taxpayers may be footing the bill for security tied to former Vice President Kamala Harris’s book tour, but the state won’t say how much. As first reported by KCRA-TV, dozens of California Highway Patrol officers have been assigned to Harris. When asked for the cost, the CHP confirmed it has records. Then, it refused to release them. The agency says revealing those numbers could expose sensitive security details. Critics argue taxpayers still have a right to know how their money is being spent. The governor’s office referred questions back to the CHP, and so far, neither Harris’ campaign nor her publisher have responded.
