Energy dependence on foreign countries during the Iran War is hitting California harder than any other state. That’s according to a new analysis from the Wall Street Journal. California imports about 75% of its crude oil and almost a third of it comes from the Middle East. California also gets its jet fuel and gas from countries where refineries depend on the flow of oil through the Persian Gulf. South Korea and India, two of California’s main fuel suppliers, have dramatically slowed down exports since the war began. This month, South Korea is expected to ship about half of the jet fuel it normally sends to California. As recently as March, California sued the Trump administration to keep a long-shuttered California offshore oil operation from reopening.
