President Trump dropped his $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS in exchange for a $1.8 billion fund to pay claims made by his friends for purported unfair prosecution.
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche announced “The Anti-Weaponization Fund” to address past wrongs and prevent future misuse of government power.
The Fund will be overseen by a Commission of five members appointed by the Attorney General, with quarterly reports sent to outline relief recipients.
House Democrats criticized Trump’s lawsuit as undermining the Constitution and creating a “slush fund” through collusive actions.
The settlement pattern, as seen in the ABC lawsuit, suggests that the $1.8 billion fund could be used to support future attacks against Trump’s opponents.
